At roadside market

25, 26 & 27. Women and children walk and paddle canoes from coastal villages to the highway to trade crabs for vegetables.

28. We meet Patrick Laho, from Miaru, who will take us in his dinghy down the river to the village. 29. Emmanuel introduces us to the local people at the highway. 30. People selling at the market - sago, coconut, crabs, fish and betel nut.

George

In the dinghy

31. We meet up with George at the river. He came out from Moresby the previous day to organise the dinghy with Patrick.

32. Foe leaves his vehicle at a safe house in the village where we board the dinghy.

33. Patrick, Emmanuel, George, Foe, Christine, Gorogo, Farapo, Moi, Ivan, Margaret, Isabella, Henry, Lyn and I head off for the village in Patrick's dinghy.
